Hospitality
Hospitality opened it's doors October 2007 with a line of customers waiting at the door. It was the first store of its kind in Richmond. The majority of the furniture I found at estate sales and antiques stores.
When we first got our hands on the space it was white walls and ugly carpet. We gutted the store and put everything in ourselves. I spent a week staining the chair rails and the wood fixtures we built.
The brands carried at Hospitality are some of the most sought after in the business. I spent a lot of time between New York City showrooms and Las Vegas trade-shows convincing the brands they needed to be in Hospitality. Once I got a few key accounts the rest of them fell into line.
Custom built cabinets with a secret stock room behind them.
Here I'm attempting to look like a scary businessman, not exactly sure I pulled it off.
Whenever we have a shoe release we are usually greeted with a line that morning. The line starts to form around 5am sometimes as early as the night before. I love the customers and would always stop by in the morning with food. One morning as the sun came up I rolled up with a hibachi grill and set up shop.
I worked closely with Red Bull while running the show at Hospitality. We have hosted a raft race the last two years. Red Bull provided a bus and U-Haul for transportation. They also paid for the DJ, food and spirits. The trip usually lasts 4 hours with a DJ waiting with food and music halfway down the river. Great Times. Work and Play. Last event had almost 100 entrants, a few popped rafts and bruised egos but no casualties.
